Therapeutic Parenting
Therapeutic parenting is an approach that supports parents and caregivers in responding to children’s needs in a way that promotes healing, attachment, and emotional development. It’s especially valuable for children who have experienced early trauma, adoption, or disrupted attachment, as it helps create a stable, attuned, and nurturing environment where they can thrive.
In my work, I combine therapeutic parenting with well-being and self-care for parents and guardians, recognising that caring for yourself is a crucial part of caring for your child. By supporting your own emotional health and resilience, you are better able to provide consistent, attuned care for your child.
I use a creative approach to therapeutic parenting, incorporating the PACE principles:
Playfulness – bringing lightness and joy into interactions, making connection enjoyable.
Acceptance – acknowledging your child’s feelings and experiences without judgment.
Curiosity – exploring your child’s inner world with interest, seeking to understand rather than immediately correct.
Empathy – validating and responding to your child’s emotions, helping them feel seen and understood.
