Group Art Psychotherapy

Group art psychotherapy can be a deeply rich and healing experience. Creating and reflecting alongside others offers a different kind of support than individual therapy. It brings connection, shared understanding, and the opportunity to see that you are not alone in your experiences.

Of course, joining a group can feel daunting at first. It’s natural to wonder how it might feel to share a space and make and share art alongside others. But many people find that the benefits of being part of a therapy group far outweigh those first nerves.

Some of the benefits of group art therapy include:

  • realising you are not alone in your struggles

  • experiencing empathy, encouragement, and connection with others

  • learning from different perspectives and ways of coping

  • developing confidence in expressing yourself within a supportive environment

  • feeling a sense of belonging and community

  • benefiting from both making your own art and witnessing the creativity of others

Therapy groups are closed groups. This means that once the members have been established, the same group continues to meet together. If someone decides to leave, a new member may be introduced depending on the dynamics of the group, but otherwise the group remains stable. This helps to create a sense of safety and trust, allowing you to build deeper connections over time.

If you think a group might be a good fit for you, or you’d like just want to know more, please get in touch.
